You will ask an AI for code hundreds of times a day, and the quality of what comes back is decided mostly at the moment you press send. Ask loosely and you get something generic that you then spend twenty minutes bending into shape. Ask precisely and you get code you can almost use as it arrives.

Ask for write a function to clean up a string and you will get a function. The trouble is that "clean up" covers about fifty different operations. Trim the whitespace? Strip punctuation?
