Imagine you are keeping track of every customer, order, and product for a small shop in a spreadsheet. It works, right up until two people try to edit it at the same time, or the sheet grows past a few hundred thousand rows and every click makes the fans spin, or someone fat-fingers a formula and every total on the page goes wrong at once.
