Deployment and Production
Part of the Go course
There is a gap between a program that runs on your laptop and a program you are willing to leave running while you sleep. Closing it is not glamorous work and it is mostly mechanical, which is good news: the same five things come up every time, and Go is unusually well set up for all five.
The gap is real, though. A program that works perfectly when you press Ctrl-C at your desk can drop live requests when a deployment restarts it. A binary that runs fine on your machine can refuse to start in a container because a library it silently depended on is not there. Configuration that lives in a constant means every environment needs its own build.
