Send EasyEnv assessments from Ashby
Connect Ashby to EasyEnv so recruiters can send an EasyEnv role to a candidate from an Ashby interview plan, and see the outcome on the candidate in Ashby.
How it works#
Your EasyEnv roles show up in Ashby as assessments. A recruiter adds one to a job's interview plan, and when a candidate reaches that stage, Ashby asks EasyEnv to invite them. EasyEnv emails the candidate an offline interview for that role. As the candidate starts, submits and gets reviewed, EasyEnv reports each step back to the candidate in Ashby, with a link to the full interview in EasyEnv.
Two keys make this work, one for each direction, and you set up both in a few minutes:
- Your EasyEnv key goes into Ashby. Ashby uses it to list your roles and to send candidates to EasyEnv.
- Your Ashby API key is created in Ashby for the Easyenv integration and goes into EasyEnv. EasyEnv uses it to send progress and results back to Ashby.
Before you start#
- You need to be an owner or admin of your EasyEnv account.
- You need to be an Ashby admin, to enable integrations and create API keys.
- Your EasyEnv account needs an active interview plan. Every assessment sent from Ashby counts as one interview, the same as one you send from EasyEnv.
- At least one role in EasyEnv. Only active roles that are not archived are offered to Ashby.

Easyenv as the Integration Partner when you create the Ashby API key, and choose that same key when you enable Easyenv. That ties the key to this integration. A generic key created without it may not be allowed to update your candidates, and EasyEnv would then be unable to report results.Send an assessment#

- When a candidate reaches that stage, start the assessment from Ashby.
- EasyEnv emails the candidate their invitation right away. They have 7 days to start it by default; change that on the
Ashbycard in EasyEnv settings. - The interview appears in EasyEnv under that role like any other offline interview, and you review it there as usual. See Review submissions.
Members of the job's hiring team in Ashby who are also members of your EasyEnv account are added to the interview as interviewers.

Cancelling from Ashby#
Cancelling the assessment in Ashby closes the invitation in EasyEnv, so the candidate can no longer start. If they are in the middle of it, the session is stopped and what they did so far stays available for review. You can then start a new assessment for the same candidate from Ashby.
Troubleshooting#
- Ashby says the EasyEnv key is unknown. The key was mistyped, or a newer one was generated since. Generate a new key in EasyEnv and paste it into the Easyenv integration in Ashby again.
- Results do not reach Ashby. Check the
Ashbycard in EasyEnv settings. It shows whether your Ashby API key is saved and the last error Ashby returned. Most often the Ashby key was created without Easyenv as its Integration Partner; create one with it and save it again. - Ashby says to use a different candidate email. That email belongs to a member of your EasyEnv account, and a member cannot also be a candidate on the same account.
- Ashby says the interview plan is not active. Renew the interview plan on your EasyEnv account, then start the assessment again.
