Welcome to EasyEnv
EasyEnv gives every engineer and every candidate a real virtual machine in one click. Use it to run technical interviews, ship code reviews, or replace your local dev setup with a production-shaped workspace.
What is EasyEnv?#
EasyEnv is a platform for spinning up real, production-like Linux environments on demand. A workspace is a collection of one or more virtual machines that boot from a recipe, configure themselves, and become reachable from your browser within seconds.
Every workspace ships with an in-browser terminal, a live VS Code editor, port forwarding, and a recording layer that captures sessions for playback. There is nothing to install on the candidate's machine and nothing to install on the interviewer's machine.
Two products, one platform#
EasyEnv is shaped around two real-world workflows:
- EasyEnv Interview: live and offline technical assessments. Build a test once, send it to dozens of candidates, and review their work with full session recordings.
- EasyEnv Workspace: ephemeral developer environments. Replace local Docker stacks with a shared, reproducible virtual machine that any teammate can join.
Both products run on the same recipe library. A debugging exercise you wrote for an interview is the exact same machine your platform team can spin up to reproduce a bug.
How it works#
- Pick a recipeA recipe is a machine blueprint: OS image, packages, services, and (optionally) intentional misconfigurations for hands-on assessments.
- Spin up a workspaceWe provision one or more virtual machines from your chosen recipes, attach them to the EasyEnv mesh network, and stream the terminal to your browser.
- Work, share, recordInvite teammates or candidates, run a live session, and let EasyEnv record the screen and terminal for later review.
- Tear it downWorkspaces are ephemeral by default. Stop or archive on demand; the duration timer reclaims compute automatically when the workspace runs out.
Where to next#
- New here? Read the Quickstart to create your first workspace in under three minutes.
- Interview team? Jump to Interviews and tests.
- Prefer the terminal? Install the easyenv CLI.
